Volunteering Support @ Step Together Volunteering
The National Charity Step Together Volunteering supports disadvantaged young people (16-25) throughout their volunteering journey. From finding the position, helping with applications, interview preparation and even attending the volunteering with them initially and if necessary until they are confident to ‘go it alone’, Step Together support them for as long as they continue to volunteer.
The service is free and all that your team have to do is complete a very short referral form outlining how young people meet the criteria. Step Together currently support a large number of young people referred from Trafford Transitions Team, Salford Next Steps, Wigan Leaving Care, Knowsley Leaving Care and many other services. The feedback from these teams has been fantastic.
They can support anyone who meets one or more of the criteria below:
- Care-Leaver Homeless (or at risk of becoming)
- Looked After Children
- Teenage parents
- YP experiencing domestic abuse/violence
- YP in offender families
- YP in substance misusing families
- YP involved in FIP
- Young Carer
- Young Offender
