This e-news includes a collection of bitesize news from the huge amount of work the programme has achieved in the past month. Apprentice Chefs

National Apprenticeship Week
To celebrate National Apprenticeship Week, we have been sharing resources and news over on our twitter account. We've also been sharing stories of some of our young people who have found employment with an apprenticeship, including DannyAaron and Amy. We have two of our own amazing apprentices as part of the Greater Manchester Talent Match Project Team who we spoke to about their role on the programme:


Amazing Apprentices: Tahmina
Tahmina Begum is Apprentice Administrator at GMCVO supporting the overall programme administration. We spoke to Tahmina about her favourite part of the job. She said, "I enjoy everything about my job. Working here, I get to see how everyone else works and how the programme is connected".


Amazing Apprentices: Liam
Liam Scholes, who is the Apprentice Opportunities Hub Administrator recently worked with The Dogs Trust to arrange a Greater Manchester Talent Match Exclusive opportunity, which will provide beneficiaries with the chance to learn about animal welfare. Liam said, "I contacted The Dogs Trust to enquire about volunteering opportunities, but did not expect it to develop into getting this academy set up. I’m really looking forward to it, and hope that our young people enjoy it and find it beneficial!".

Youth Panel at Bolton at Home

Youth Panel deliver workshop for local employers
Youth Panel members visited Bolton at Home during February to deliver a workshop on ways to ensure recruitment processes are ‘young person-friendly’. During the day, staff at Bolton at Home were put in the hot seat while being interviewed by Youth Panel members.

Employers wanted for Career Inspiration event

Youth Panel visit Football Museum
On the 3rd March members of the Greater Manchester Talent Match Youth Panel and staff visited the National Football Museum in Manchester to find out about volunteering opportunities and what it’s like to be a member of the team. You can read more on our website by clicking here.

We want your views on our communications
If you are reading this e-news, we want your views! We want to find out whether the communications sent out by the Greater Manchester Talent Match programme are appropriate, effective and informative. We also want to find out the wider impact programme communications are having. The Works Academy

Young people join Academies following The Works Visit
Talent Coaches and young people attended an informative and inspirational career insight day at The Works, Manchester on the 24th of February. You can read more about the visit on our website by clicking here.

Talent Coaches supporting young people into volunteering
Ten Talent Coaches are working with our Volunteering Officer on the Greater Manchester Talent Match Pic 'n' Mix volunteering offer to developing volunteering opportunities for their young people.


Sam, 23, a mother of four from Oldham is over the moon to have secured a business trial at her local Council after working with her Talent Coach for eight months. You can read Sam's Story on our website.

February Commissioning Round now closed
Thank you to those who applied to host Talent Coaches as part of our February Commissioning round. The Commissioning Panels for each area are making decisions this month and the final round of commissioning will be launched this summer. Future commissioning announcements will be released in the e-news.

The Greater Manchester Talent Match Opportunities Hub is the place to find holistic support, guidance and advice in your journey to being work-ready. New opportunities are added every day including work experience, training, apprenticeships, events and job fairs, volunteering opportunities and more. In this section of the e-news, Liam Scholes, our Opportunities Hub Apprentice Administrator, picks out his top three current opportunities:

Referendum generation with the BBC
The BBC are looking for 200 people aged 18-24 from across the Europe to take part in Referendum Generation – a project that puts young adults at the heart of BBC programmes and content.

Digital Prince’s Trust programme - Get started with apps
The Prince’s Trust are offering free spaces onto the Get Started programme with Made by Milk App and Web development.

Learn More About the Construction Academy @ The Works (Greater Manchester Talent Match Exclusive Opportunity)
This is a valuable face to face opportunity for young people and Talent Coaches to find out more about The Works Academies and detailed information about the Construction Academy ahead of their upcoming Construction assessment days. The Workshop will be hed on Wednesday 23rd March, 10.30am - 11.30am.
