Career Inspiration Event

Career Inspiration
Young people had the opportunity to try their hand at textiles, construction and more at the second Career Inspiration event, hosted by Greater Manchester Talent Match at the BBC, MediaCity. Workshops, activities, advice, tips were also on offer during the well attended event.


#MoreThanNEET campaign reaches 38,850 people
The #MoreThanNEET campaign, run by the Youth Panel to challenge negative stereotypes around the term NEET gained 38,850 impressions on social media over its two week run. Read the Chair of the Youth Panel's views on the campaign.

Big Conversation

Big Conversation report published
Our new report on The Big Conversation shows that at least two young people have entered employment and there has been a longer term impact on employers and young people’s perceptions of each other. Read the full Big Conversation report.


Could you donate items for for our goodie bags or a prize for our raffle?
As part of our celebratory Mixer event for the young people on the programme, we are looking for dontations of small and large items for goodie bags and a raffle. All contributors names will be mentioned and thanked during the event and other publicity. More information about how to donate is on our website.

We're hiring: Communications Officer at GMYN
Would you like to work on Greater Manchester Talent Match, amongst other projects? GMYN are hiring a Communications Officer. One of the key roles of this position will be to focus on the continued development of two exciting projects “Boots and Beats” in partnership with City in the Community and Greater Manchester Talent Match. Big Conversation

Talent Matches from Greater Manchester and the Black Country get together to swap skills
The Greater Manchester Talent Match Youth Panel and theTalent Match Black Country Steering Group, who both carry out very similar duties within their Talent Match programmes, met for a full-day workshop in Manchester to share learning and achievements to date and to share ideas and plan together for the future. Jasmine, 24 from Bolton has set up her own multi-media creative arts business, Forbidden Tree Productions, alongside her partner, with the support of her Talent Coach. If you were at the Career Inspiration event, you may have seen Jasmine and her team filming during the day. Read Jasmine's Story.

New Talent Coach host organsiations announced
Earlier this month, we announced the names of our new Talent Coach host organisations following our third round of commissioning. Talent Coaches are named workers who offer young people one-to-one, long-term support throughout their journey to employment. The new organisations cover the areas of Rochdale, Tameside, Wigan and Bury, where Greater Manchester Talent Match was previously underrepresented. Find out about our new host organisations.

The Greater Manchester Talent Match Opportunities Hub is the place to find holistic support, guidance and advice in your journey to being work-ready. New opportunities are added every day including work experience, training, apprenticeships, events and job fairs, volunteering opportunities and more. In this section of the e-news, we pick out our top three current opportunities:

Volunteers' Week Logo

To celebrate Volunteers' Week, we've teamed up with a number of Greater Manchester organisations to co-host four great Exclusive Opportunities. Learn how to make healthy dog biscuits with YMCA Bolton, Have a Go Gardening with Vintage Worx, find out how volunteering in the arts can improve your employability with HOME or take part in a volunteer taster session at the National Football Museum.

Talent Match Exclusive - Work Experience Day with 4Lunch
Prepare for the world of work by experiencing a market trading day at the 4Lunch street food stall.

Amazon Pre Employment Training @ The Skills Company
Amazon, one of the world’s largest retailers is looking to recruit 1,400 staff for their new Fulfilment Centre facility, close to Manchester Airport. If you interested in applying for one of these roles, are aged 19 or over, unemployed and in receipt of benefits and meet the relevant criteria, you can take advantage of a free 2 week training course to prepare you for the interview process.

Peer Support Volunteer Opportunity in Wythenshawe
Wythenshawe Youth Alliance in partnership with Wythenshawe Community Housing Group, Safe Spots Wythenshawe and Manchester Teenage Pregnancy are offering young people the opportunity to become Peer Support volunteers in the Wythenshawe.

Talent Coach Forum
The next Talent Coach Main Forum will take place on Wednesday 22nd June. All Talent Coaches have now been booked on and we look forward to seeing you all.

Greater Manchester Talent Match Mixer
On Monday 11th July, our young people will be celebrating their talents and successes at an inspiring event held at The Lowry in Salford Keyes. Talent Coaches will be receiving invitations for their young people later on today.
