New staff welcomed to Greater Manchester Talent Match team
We have welcomed three new members of staff to the Project Team in January. At GMCVO, we welcomed back Nicola McDonagh from maternity leave, at Business in the Community (BiTC), we are joined by James Lyon as Employee Volunteering Manager. And finally, at GMYN, we welcomed Sarah Gray to the team, who has taken over the role of Development Officer - Volunteering & Training. Watch David on the Cooperative Pathway to Work
A new short film has been produced by Greater Manchester Talent Match to showcase a new innovative way of tackling youth unemployment alongside The Cooperative. You can watch the film by clicking here.
Talent Match engage 7000 young people nationally across 21 partnerships
The Talent Match national programme has engaged nearly seven thousand young people just over one year into the Programme. Around ten per cent of those engaged have secured employment. Read more about the Talent Match programme's national outcomes on our website.
Large number of local organisations attend Commissioning Briefing Sessions
The team were pleased to welcome a number of local organisations to our Commissioning Briefing Sessions over the last two weeks. There is still time to apply to host a Talent Coach in Bury, Wigan, Rochdale or Tameside, with the deadline for applications being 12 noon Wednesday 24th February 2016. Before getting involved in the programme, Chris found himself in a downward spiral.
After working with his Talent Coach, Holly Lam-Moores from GreaterSport, Chris is now employed, has completed 6 weeks of work experience as a fitness instructor and wants to use his positive experience to influence and encourage the people around him to take the same steps that he has. When Stacey joined Greater Manchester Talent Match in July 2014, she was struggling to find work after leaving care and recovering from mental health issues.
Now she has a job she enjoys, has received a marriage proposal, been nominated for a Prince’s Trust Breakthrough Award and moved from sheltered to independent living. Read Stacey's Story.
Could you deliver Greater Manchester Talent Match in Bury, Rochdale, Wigan or Tameside?
The third commissioning round for Greater Manchester Talent Match is now open. Greater Manchester Centre for Voluntary Organisation (GMCVO) is looking to commission organisations to deliver the Greater Manchester Talent Match programme in Bury, Rochdale, Wigan and Tameside. You can download all of the commissioning documents, including the application form, by clicking here. The deadline for applications is 12 noon Wednesday 24th February 2016.
The Greater Manchester Talent Match Opportunities Hub is the place to find holistic support, guidance and advice in your journey to being work-ready. New opportunities are added every day including work experience, training, apprenticeships, events and job fairs, volunteering opportunities and more. In this section of the e-news, our Opportunities Hub staff pick out their top three current opportunities:
Get Into Construction (including CSCS Card)
A 2 week course delivered by the TDB Partnership CIC to help you gain the skills and qualifications you need to get into the construction industry.
Tesco Mobile Customer Service Project
A 6 week course which covers learning about how Tesco Mobile runs, telephone techniques and mock interviews with the Tesco Mobile staff. This training is run by Tesco Mobile with the support from Bolton Lads & Girls Club Talent Coach, Dora Mallott.
Free Styling and Interview Technique Support for Women
We provide high quality interview clothes, styling advice and interview training to out-of-work women on low incomes.

Talent Coach Forum dates
Main Talent Coach Forums are held quarterly for Talent Coaches and provide a combination of workshops, training and presentations around a specific theme or topic, chosen based upon feedback provided by Talent Coaches and emerging issues identified by our stakeholder groups. The dates for 2016 will be:
- Thursday 17th March 2016
- Wednesday 22nd June 2016
- Wednesday 21st September 2016
- Wednesday 14th December 2016
All Talent Coach Main Forums will take place at St Thomas Centre.
