Matthew Lycholat had a great time creating his own short film during an opportunity he took part in as part of his Greater Manchester Talent Match journey.
Matthew took part in a digital skills programme as delivered by Reform Radio, in partnership with the Manchester Adult Education Services and NLDC. The course is a 4 week creative digital skills programme which will resulted in hosting his own live show on the final day.
Throughout the course, young people had the opportunity to produce a piece of audio and visual content on an area of interest with a focus on their own scientific research with The Wellcome Trust. The young people were split into small teams and each of them researched, produced and performed their own presentations and created an impressive range of content. Matt's team focused on the effects of sleep deprivation.
Rachel, a director at Reform Radio said, "Matt's team produced a really professional piece of short-form, using techniques learned throughout. Matt showed a lot of commitment to the programme and brought previous directing knowledge to the team. They worked well together and learned how to compromise to allow each of their strengths to shine through."
Matthew explained, "The video was part of a presentation on science and creativity. We were encouraged by the organisers into focusing it on sleep and video games. I learned how to use some audio editing software and how to carry out a radio podcast with a group. I enjoyed the sessions. Reform Radio tried their hardest to accommodate everyone as best they could."
"I am still in contact with one of the company directors and I plan to see if they could have any further related work for me."
The tongue-in-cheek video was created by Matt, Bolaji Onalaja and Biza Osa-Imobhio - all participants on the Reform Radio programme. Matt is supported by Talent Coach Karolina Koscien at the Wai Yin Society.
The course is for people aged 19 and over, is free to attend, with lunch provided and travel costs will be reimbursed. For more information or to book your place please contact Rachel at firstname.lastname@example.org or on 0758 219 4077.
