BT Workplacement (including Bootcamp) with the Rio Ferdinand Foundation

Opportunity Provider: Rio Ferdinand Foundation

The Rio Ferdinand Foundation have teamed up with BT, one of the largest leading communication companies, to create a fantastic opportunity for 16-24 year olds who are not in education, employment or training.

The opportunity will start with a one day Bootcamp held on Tuesday 16th January 2018 from 9.30am to 4.30pm.  This is a one-day workshop at BT in Manchester and will be delivered by a professional coach to equip you with essential work skills and build confidence. The day will be supported by BT volunteers, who are there to coach and share their experiences. This is a great introduction to lead into the three-week work placement.

What will I get out of it?

• Discover your potential career paths, relating to skills, interests, values and abilities

• Set your career goals and develop an action plan to reach them

• Improve your interview techniques and CV writing

• Get first-hand experience of an apprenticeship assessment

• Tour a BT building and its different departments

• Get your questions answered by BT employees from across the whole business

• Get your digital skills up to speed.

The three-week work placement will run from Monday to Friday 9.30am-4pm starting on Monday 22nd January and be finishing on Friday 9th February 2018. BT work placements support young people like you into employment, whether that’s with BT or another company. The three-week programme is a mix of classroom work on employability skills and hands on work experience including departments such as administration and engineering, with a job interview at the end, where possible. On completion of the 3 weeks you will also receive a further three months follow on support into employment, training or further education.

What will I get out of it?

• Learn how to nail an interview, create a great CV and communicate better

• Valuable work experience

• Assessment centre insights and ‘best in class’ preparation

• Access to local companies working with BT to help secure jobs
