Manchester Young LIves Employability Programme
Our Employability Programme has a few places available for any young person aged between 16 - 19 (up to 25 with an EHCP)
Our dedicated team works to support and help young people to develop skills, such as confidence, awareness, and understanding, in preparation for adulthood and to enter the world of work.
Our Employability Skills Programme draws on an individual’s knowledge and experience, allowing us to provide stimulating preparation and individualised personal development programmes, suitable for young people of all abilities. The programme has been delivered for the last year at the Moss side Millennium Powerhouse where it has proved particularly successful as a foundation experience for young people requiring more intensive preparation in order to achieve success in a work placement.
The uniqueness of the programme continues to be founded in the environment and ethos of the delivery. We provide a highly experienced, motivated and committed trainer and her team, to deliver this programme. The taught elements of the programme exclusively focuses on positive reinforcement, set within a context of employability skills and attitudes. The monitoring and work placement opportunities further develop and support these skills enabling many young people to make a successful entry into the world of work and training such as apprenticeships, work-based training, and 6th form colleges.
We have identified five distinct learning areas for skills development on which our provision is based: Industry Knowledge; Skills for Work; Work Experience; Social and Personal Skills and English and Maths Functional Skills (Entry Level 3 – Level 2).
We aim to develop the skills of Young People to be prepared to enter into 'The World of Work!' supporting them to make relevant and informed decisions concerning their futures.
Increase their personal development and self-esteem, along with reinforcing positive attitudes.
- Provide a stimulating, rewarding and small work-based learning environment.
- We ensure the Young people continue to receive advice and guidance that they need to make well-informed and realistic decisions about learning and careers throughout their time with us and post programme.
- We offer flexible teaching programme including mock interviews, IT job research, CV writing, and regular teamwork activities.
We also offer a bursary to cover travel, lunches and a bonus for a full week's attendance.
