Volunteer Administration Support - Emmaus House Salford
About the opportunity
To assist with the adminstration and clerical tasks that support the running of the Emmaus Salford Community, its shops and related work. Tasks may include: ' Assisting in the administration and data input of all records (manual and electronic) ' Assisting the Management Team and Trustees in preparing and responding to all correspondence and enquiries ' Processing of forms ' Assisting in maintaining diaries and arrange appointments as required for the Management Team and the use of the building and any office accommodation and meeting room ' To assist in the compliance with all statutory requirements relating to adminstration and records held by or on behalf of Emmaus Salford ' To support any adminstration tasks arising from the maangement of the social enterpises/shop and retail outlets operated by Emmaus Salford ' To answer the phone and take messages accurately ' To take forward enquiries and obtain details for the Community Leader and the Management Team and Trustees ' To assist in keeping the office areas neat and tidy and to undertake all filing, copying and printing ' Other administration or clerical duties that may from time to time be requested
About Emmaus House Salford
Emmaus is an international organisation and there are 25 Emmaus Communities in the UK. Emmaus Salford is a registered charity for the homeless and is presently developing Emmaus House as a community for 26 Emmaus Companions, to give homeless people a home and a chance to work together and feel valued. The aim is for this to be a sustainable community and the Companions will take part in building the business. Initially there will be a shop at Emmaus House selling affordable quality second hand furniture and household goods which have been donated locally. There will also be a workshop for restoration and repair and a cafe.
What are they looking for?
It is hoped volunteers will have some of the skills below:
- Literacy and Numeracy skills
- Basic computer skills
- Preferably some previous experience of clerical and adminstrative work
- Good commmunication skills
- Ability to operate as a team member
- Flexible attitude to types of jobs required within the role
- Respect for the organisation's policies
- A willingness to participate in relevant and appropriate training in order to carry out the duties required of the role
