Volunteer Recycling Champion - Emmaus House Salford
About the opportunity
To research and report on opportunities for recycling items that may provide the Emmaus Salford Community with an income or in general provide a service to the wider local community. Tasks include:- * Researching opportunities to recycle, focusing on those that create a small income stream for Emmaus * Advising on recycling opportunities that may benefit the local community *Reporting on recycling opportunities to the Trustees * Working with the Project Manager and/or Community Leader in the development of recycling projects and providing support to the Companions who will ultimately lead on such schemes
About Emmaus House Salford
Emmaus is an international organisation and there are 25 Emmaus Communities in the UK. Emmaus Salford is a registered charity for the homeless and is presently developing Emmaus House as a community for 26 Emmaus Companions, to give homeless people a home and a chance to work together and feel valued. The aim is for this to be a sustainable community and the Companions will take part in building the business. Initially there will be a shop at Emmaus House selling affordable quality second hand furniture and household goods which have been donated locally. There will also be a workshop for restoration and repair and a cafe.
