Creative Skills Development with Creative Experts
Creative Experts is a unique skills development programme designed to support young people aged 16-30 into self-employment within the Creative Sector.
The programme provides opportunities for young people to take their first steps into self-employment within the creative industries. Creative Experts provides regular training and development, securing paid employment opportunities from corporate clients, public sector and arts organisations. Creative Experts participants are trained to go out and deliver as creative practitioners to clients; offering workshops, conference services, staff training and creative facilitation.
The participants are mentored throughout to develop a clear set of objectives for their personal development and career goals, and the paid work they then undertake (all paid at industry-standard rates) gives them an important source of income, contributes to their growing portfolio of freelance work and strengthens their CVs.
The programme won the Northwest Business Leadership Team’s Lever Prize 2014 for outstanding work that bridges the gap between creative and private sector organizations. It also delivers significant employment outcomes: 71% of young people who have entered the programme were either unemployed or under employed, and to date 67% of those have since gained full time employment or self-employment in creative industries, with that figure rising continually.
