Volunteering & Mentoring Opportunities @ YASP Manchester Mind, Levenshulme
Volunteering is a great way to learn new skills and to grow in confidence, as well as it being a way to help others.
There is strong link between volunteering and improving mental health. Young people have told us they like to volunteer as it makes them feel valued, helps them learn new skills, provides routine, develops experience that can help with applications and looks good when applying for college.
You can volunteer in our cafe, helping to prepare and serve food, or greeting other young people when they arrive.
We also have a Cafe Supervisor role which means supervising and supporting other volunteers in the cafe and leading shifts. Cafe Supervisors are provided with a food hygiene certificate.
We have volunteering opportunities in our office above the cafe. Tasks often include data inputting, answering calls and taking messages.
Admin volunteering can give you a valuable experience of working in an office and it can help to boost your confidence such as when talking on the telephone.
Be a Mentor
Help other young people by becoming a mentor. Our mentoring service pairs mentors with other young people, helping them try new things and take on new challenges.
We regularly run mentoring training sessions for those who would like to become a mentor. Please get in touch with us to be kept updated on our next mentor training opportunities.
Training, support and expenses are provided for YASP volunteers.
