Greater Manchester Talent Match provides a unique and exiting opportunity to change the way youth employment is approached in Greater Manchester by connecting organisations, employers and young people.
There are a number of ways in which organisations can play their part in telling the Greater Manchester Talent Match story:
Tell us about an existing work-related, learning or volunteering opportunity
We know that there are lots of great training courses, volunteering opportunities and work-related activities already available throughout Greater Manchester, but young people tell us that they find it difficult to find out what’s out there and navigate their way through the different options. We have created the Opportunities Hub (an online portal bringing together information about existing opportunities available for young people with those we are sourcing exclusively for Greater Manchester Talent Match) to enable our Talent Coaches to shape bespoke journeys towards employment for young people. Registering your opportunities on the Opportunities Hub will promote them to organisations working with young people across Greater Manchester. To register an opportunity on the Opportunities Hub, contact Janice Drew, Opportunities Hub Officer at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Tell us about your services for young people
The Opportunities Hub contains information about the full range of support services that young people may need to access on their pathway to work, covering issues such as health, housing, child care and debt. Registering the services provided by your organisation on the Opportunities Hub will promote them to organisations working with young people across Greater Manchester.
Find support for your young people
Talent Coaches provide what young people told us was missing from youth employment schemes - a highly personalised, holistic approach that support them to overcome personal and practical barriers to employment. Our Talent Coaches are hosted by front-line organisations working with young people that understand the challenges faced by young people in their communities. If you are working with young people who would benefit from support from a Talent Coach, you can contact a host organisation in your area.
Become a Host Organisation
Greater Manchester Talent Match commission front-line organisations working with young people to host Talent Coaches. If you are interested in becoming a host organisation, register for Greater Manchester Talent Match email updates and we will contact you during our next commissioning round.
Provide new work-related opportunities to young people
Greater Manchester Talent Match welcomes the involvement of employers from all sectors to help understand and overcome the barriers to employing young people and to provide work-related opportunities. We are building stronger, practical relationships between employers and organisations working with young people and can offer you guidance on how to make your organisation and recruitment practices more inclusive of young people. If you are interested in offering a young person an opportunity, such as a work experience placement or work taster session, we can work with you to help you decide what options best fit your employment needs and support you with any activity you would like to offer.
Provide new volunteering opportunities to young people
Greater Manchester Talent Match has a dedicated Volunteering Development Officer who works with organisations to develop their volunteering offer to young people. If you are an organisation that involves volunteers you can access free, tailored support to meet your needs.
Connect with employers
If you are a voluntary organisation working with young people we can link you directly to an employer, enabling you to receive bespoke, free support such as help with fundraising, pro-bono activity and individual mentoring. Contact our Employers Officer at Business in the Community for further information.
