Hannah is the Manager of the leaving care service in Manchester and has worked in the voluntary and statutory sectors across Wales and the North West. Hannah has a passion and expertise in participation, children’s rights and is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people. Hannah has overseen services for Young Carers; for Parents, carers and children with special educational needs and disabilities and most recently has the pleasure of working with care leavers in Manchester.
Hannah’s interest in the Steering Group is driven by the fact that young people are disproportionately affected by unemployment with certain groups of young people being disproportionately affected. This is not and should not be acceptable. The leaving care service in Manchester is responsible for ensuring that all care leavers aged 16-25 years are supported to engage in education, employment and training opportunities. Manchester has a higher percentage of care leavers in university which is a fantastic however, we know from research, from national and local statistics and feedback from young people themselves that they are a group who are far more likely to be not in education, employment and training. GM Talent match is an opportunity to work together to improve things for those young people and it’s a privilege to be part of.
