Youth Panel Representative
Representatives from the Greater Manchester Talent Match Youth Panel sit on Steering Group meetings to bring young person insight and perspective to discussions.
The Youth Panel is the heart of the Greater Manchester Talent Match programme. It is a group of young people aged 18 to 24 with first-hand experience of the barriers young people face to employment. With this invaluable insight, the Youth Panel acts as the voice of young people in the programme’s planning, delivery and evaluation, as well as in consultations on youth engagement best practice with other organisations.
Between April 2017 and April 2018, the Youth Panel volunteered over 2,000 hours to improving the employment landscape for young people across Greater Manchester. Their portfolio includes representing young people in the Houses of Parliament; delivering their own awareness-raising campaigns; supporting funders such as Comic Relief decide on their youth project allocations; and reviewing and advising on employment initiatives with local authorities.
“Greater Manchester Talent Match is a great programme as it is influenced by young people to help young people. It has given me opportunities that I would not have done otherwise, which has built my confidence, skills and networks.
The Youth Panel allows the voices of Greater Manchester’s young people to be heard. As Chair, I am able to represent those voices and help employers and young people understand each other to challenge negative stigmas.” – Cicely Hill (Youth Panel Chair)
