Kim’s Story

Kim, 19, from Bury has come a long way since joining Greater Manchester Talent Match, having just completed a traineeship.

Having recently come out of an abusive relationship, Kim was living with her cousin balancing mental health issues, self-esteem issues and confidence issues with a lack of skills, qualifications, and work experience. This stopped her from attending any form of training or applying for a job.

It was at this point, that Kim met her Talent Coach Hayley Bancroft from Groundwork BBOR.

Together, they worked on increasing Kim’s confidence and getting her the skills she needed to start to look for work.

Despite struggling in her personal life, Kim attended and completed a traineeship with Back2Work Complete Training, a leading provider of training and recruitment services in the North West.

During her traineeship, Kim completed two weeks customer service and then a work placement at a nursery while working on her Maths and English functional skills.

During her Greater Manchester Talent Match journey, Kim also took part in a communication workshop alongside other young people on the programme, a Groundwork Talent Match team building day, in addition to regular meetings with Hayley.

Kim’s future is now looking brighter. Her confidence has grown, she is living with her mum and she has more motivation than ever before.

Kim said, “I am proud of myself, I never thought I would be able to complete the traineeship.”

Hayley said, “Kim has come really far in these last six months, her home life is more stable and her confidence is growing.”
